Federal agencies must now purchase certain products made from biologically produced materials, because they are renewable resources that are safer for the environment.

The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, also known as the 2002 Farm Bill, is a strong incentive for companies doing business with the federal government to develop and use "green" products. The Department of Defense also has a program to encourage procurement of green products. But the availability of green products also makes it possible for any business to lessen its environmental footprint at a small relative cost, and this action may also enhance customer relationships.

Because Novus™ 300 is biodegradable, small spills of the uncontaminated product will rapidly biodegrade by naturally occurring organisms. Surprisingly, 70% to 80% of hydraulic fluid in heavy machinery such as bulldozers, earthmovers and off road equipment is lost into the environment at some point in the life of these machines (Carnes, K. Tribology & Lubrication Technology 2004, 50 (9), 32-40).

Novus™ 300 is recommended as service fill in Caterpillar construction equipment and machines that call for a HYDO or HEES type fluid and are used in environmentally sensitive areas. It can also be used in industrial, marine or mobile hydraulic oil applications where the use of petroleum-based hydraulic fluids would cause environmental damage.

Novus™ FG 32, 46 and 68 lubricants are biodegradable food grade anti-wear hydraulic oils formulated with premium high oleic vegetable oils. Novus™ FG 32, 46 and 68 are H-1 approved lubricants for incidental or accidental contact with food, engineered for use in equipment in the food processing industry or related industries where H-1 lubricants are required. Novus ™ Food Grade answers the demands of the food processing and related industries?meat and poultry packing, grain processing, animal feed processing, dairies, bakeries where the use of mineral oil based hydraulic fluids would cause environmental damage.

Chemtool Incorporated has introduced Novus ™ Fire Resistant Hydraulic Oil to answer the demands of the service requirements of the industrial, marine or mobile hydraulic oil applications that require a fire resistant hydraulic fluid. Yet, Novus ™ Fire Resistant hydraulic fluid still remains environmentally friendly. Novus ™ Fire Resistant Hydraulic Oils are formulated with premium high oleic vegetable oils.
