Quenchants:

When one thinks of quenching, fire, dense smoke and intense heat come to mind. Typically one would not think of an orderly cooling process. However, quenching is a very precise science that treats extremely hot ferrous and nonferrous manufactured parts. Quenching cools the parts at a calculated temperature rate, allowing the piece to take on a desired metallurgical property. The science of quenching is very precise; however, the road that gets you to the desired metallurgical property can take many turns. Chemtool Incorporated will become your quenching partner down that road. We have been working with our quenching partners for over 40 years. We offer a wide range of quenching options. Our quench products are designed for both large and small ferrous and nonferrous metal parts and continuous or batch furnace.

Chemtool Incorporated can fine tune our quenching fluids to meet your specific needs. For instance, one of our marine based customers was looking for a high speed quench oil in its finishing process. The goal was to quickly quench the outside piece, creating an extremely hard inside surface face. However, they also wanted the interior of the finished piece to have a less rigid structure, allowing for some tension to be tolerated. Because of the unique properties the quenching oil provided and the timing sequence of the process, the internal section of the quenched piece was provided a slower cooling time frame. The different cooling time-frame allowed the chemical structure of the inside of the piece to take a more malleable or less rigid chemical property desired by our customer.

This is just one example of how Chemtool Incorporated worked to provide real life solutions to our customers. Your challenges are our next product. Listed below are just a couple of our Quenchant products.

Product High Speed Quench Oils
Alphaquench 5300
Alphaquench 5300 is designed for quenching operations which require a high-speed quenching oil, in order to develop maximum hardiness and minimal distortion. Alphaquench 5300 has a low viscosity to minimize drag out rates. It can be used to obtain the desired micro-structure by providing rapid cooling during the vapor stage and slow cooling during the martinsite formation.
Alphaquench 5301 Alphaquench 5301 is designed for quenching operations which require a high speed quenching oil, in order to develop maximum hardness and minimal distortion. This oil can be particularly effective when parts are tightly packed in baskets and optimal circulation is not possible. The Alphaquench 5301 has a low viscosity to minimize drag out rates. Alphaquench 5301 is formulated with a paraffinic base stock for maximum thermal stability.

Product Medium Speed Quench Oils
Marquench 325
Marquench 325 is designed for marquenching operations which require a medium speed quenching oil, in order to develop maximum hardness and minimal distortion. Marquench 325 may be used at elevated bath temperatures up to 350°F. This oil can be particularly effective when elevated bath temperatures are used to slow cooling in the convection phase in order to minimize distortion. The Marquench 325 has a lower viscosity to maximize cooling convection minimize fire potential. Marquench 325 has a high flash point to minimize the risk of fire hazard. Marquench 325 is formulated with a paraffinic base stock for maximum thermal stability. Marquench 325 is fast marquenching oil containing anti-oxidants for long bath life when used at elevated temperatures.
Marquench 220D
Marquench 220-D is a premium marquenching oil that was designed to meet the toughest industrial requirements for long-term stability of quenching oils. This product is based on carefully selected and highly refined paraffinic base stocks enhanced by a special oxidation and thermal stabilizer package. The Marquench 220-D provides unusually fast quenching speed at elevated temperatures. Therefore, parts quenched in this oil attain high hardness comparable to parts quenched in low viscosity fast oils at conventional temperatures.
