In 2005 Dean Athans, the General Manager of Chemtool Incorporated received a request from one his customers for a rust preventative. The customer wanted a product that would provide outdoor protection for at least eight weeks, and that would also allow for easy clean up with an alkaline cleaner.

Our customer manufactures large unfinished parts in Mexico. These unfinished parts were shipped by railroad or truck to a finishing plant in North Carolina for painting and final assembly. Once the parts arrived in North Carolina, four employees had to sand and clean them, causing a delay in the paint process translating additional expense to our customer.

Mr. Athans developed “TransStore” in response to our customers need. He created a formulation that provided a durable, thin, dry film coating that protected the “in-transit” parts against corrosion. The “TransStore“ advantage included a very fast drying time with low VOC’s, which also was impervious to water/moisture.

The results were impressive:

1) Our customer will now be able to allocate the four employees charged to sand and clean the unfinished part to other areas of the plant.

2) The unfinished part will not have to be cleaned or sanded prior to the paint process thus saving 45 minutes prep time per part.

3) TransStore will replace an oil based RP with a low flash point.

4) TransStore is dry to the touch, making the kit easier to handle.

5) TransStore provides very fast dry time and low VOC’s.
